    Alicia Navarro

    Co-founder & CEO

CEO Alicia Navarro became an entrepreneur at an early age, with several ventures under her belt before Skimlinks. Alicia studied technology, earning the university medal for Computing Sciences at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia. She worked for over 10 years in internet applications, designing and launching mobile and internet-based applications in Australia and the UK, where she eventually launched Skimbit and then Skimlinks. She now splits her time between London and San Francisco.

Alicia's vision for Skimlinks is to see online publishers rewarded for the role they play in informing purchase decisions, by removing the technical and administrative complexities that hamper would-be affiliates. This, she believes, will help evolve affiliate marketing into a mainstream ubiquitous revenue model.

Alicia's ideal food adventure would be blue cheese & champagne in France, oysters in her Sydney home and paella in the Balearics. At the office, Alicia enjoys teaching the team unusual words like 'ruminate' and 'gesticulate' and she can't function without at least 50 Firefox tabs open at any given time!

Alicia is a seasoned industry speaker, and authority within content monetization. If you are a member of the media and would like to interview Alicia, or you would like Alicia to speak at your conference or to your organisation, please email support@skimlinks.com.

      Joe Stepniewski

      Co-founder

Joe co-founded Skimlinks with Alicia after joining the original Skimbit back in Feb 2008 (they are old friends from university in Sydney). Joe looks after business development, sales and marketing: growing and improving our publisher base and generally works with Alicia to lead the Skimlinks team.

Joe previously founded SiteRefinery, which acquires under-performing websites/domains and turns them around in terms of traffic, functionality and monetisation. He built up these three skills over years of running his own websites as an internet marketeer and affiliate. Prior to that Joe was Head of New Media at Finger Lickin' Records, an independent electronic music label, also worked at Cisco Systems both in EMEA and Asiapac (i.e. UK and Australia)

Joe's ultimate mashup would be made up of music, food and technology. He mixes a mean lychee martini, loves to start crafty ideas on the Internet and wants to be the new David Thompson. Joe was quite dubious of, but now recently very fond of Twitter.

      Engineering

      Ciarán Rooney

      Ciarán Rooney

      Chief Technology Officer

      @CiaranR

Ciarán's role as Skimlinks CTO is to lead the technical innovation for Skimlinks' products and the platform's infrastructure. Ciarán relishes this opportunity to develop technologies that enable exceptional experiences for clients and end-users of the Skimlinks technology.

Before joining Skimlinks, Ciarán worked in his native Ireland as Head of IT at one of the country's largest mobile communications companies. He has worked as a freelance developer before establishing Weeno Ltd, a web application and design company. Ciarán is currently the President of PHP London.

Ciarán also leads the team on music tastes and is often found singing the wrong words to songs, on the offbeat. He takes his lunch when everyone else in England is taking tea and enjoys falling down a mountain while attached to a snowboard.

      Angus Bankes

      Angus Bankes

      Chief Information Officer

Angus Bankes was founder and CTO of Moreover Technologies where he was recognised in the industry as a leader in the area of XML. At Moreover, Angus was one of the main advocates and driving force for the mass adoption of RSS feeds.

In 2005 Moreover Technologies was acquired by Verisign (NASD: VRSN) where Angus ran the technology for both moreover.com and weblogs.com. He has now joined the Skimlinks team to cover the area of technology strategy and architecture.

Angus gives regular talks to publishers and enterprises on such topics as the future of internet publishing, new distribution methods, social media and OpenID and enjoys forcing his colleagues to watch videos of himself appearing on 90s TV quiz shows.

      Tamás Szikszai

      Tamás Szikszai

      Senior Developer

      @le_punk

As our Senior Developer, Tamás has built all the prettiest bits of the Skimlinks interface, as well as numerous other products with his lightning fast coding skills. He's built tools for every part of the Skimlinks operation and is the only member of the team to insist on using the Opera web browser.

Before joining the team, Tamás built various sites back in Hungary and still surprises us with incredible weekend coding projects.

Arguably, he used to have the best dreadlocks in tech, Tamás also drinks enough Redbull to win a sponsorship deal and can solve a Rubik's cube faster than anyone we know.

      Richard Johnson

      Richard Johnson

      Tech Lead & Senior Developer

      @rjohnsondev

Richard is another Australian import, recently moving away from sunny Brisbane to a climate more considerate to his complexion.

Previously working as Lead Developer for several years at Brightlabs, a leading Australian web agency, Richard has experience in a wide range of tech and is just as comfortable debugging browser rendering quirks as he is wiring up new servers in the data centre.

He passes the time on weekends writing open source file parsing libraries and reading books on cryptography. He also enjoys frequenting events of a live music variety as well as those of a comedic persuasion.

      Phil Jackson

      Phil Jackson

      Tech Lead & Senior Developer

      @philjackson

Phil made the move to join Skimlinks as a development team lead after his previous startup, Qwerly, sold to a company in the US. Before Qwerly, Phil was a developer at the BBC working on the iPlayer API project, where he was paid to watch TV to some degree. A BSc honors degree in computer studies from Teesside University ensures that he has all the knowledge of obscure data structures he might never need.

His specialties are APIs and 'big data' so he slots into the Skimlinks gang perfectly. Every now and again Phil dabbles in front-end development but quickly remembers why he claims to be a back-end guy on his CV.

Phil is father to a busy young toddler, and when he's not tidying brightly-coloured plastic toys away, he's a regular contributor to a few open source projects including API Axle, which he founded.

      Erik Nygren

      Erik Nygren

      Senior Developer

Erik co-founded Atma Links, taking the technical helm as CTO, but has now joined the Skimlinks crew as a senior developer, putting his knowledge to work on our products.

Erik was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, which he left in 2005 to study computer science at Stanford University. He has since moved to New York City, where he spent the last two years building the Atma technology with Chris.

Erik loves to experiment with his hair, and unleashed his sweet moustache on society after working on it in stealth under the guise of a full beard. His favourite movie is Karate Kid.

      Imogen Wright

      Imogen Wright

      Senior Developer

Imogen joined us from Cape Town, after a stint as a developer for the Amazon Web Services sector of Amazon.com.

Born in game farm country in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, Imogen loves nothing better than a dose of big sky and silence. When not hunched over a keyboard, she straps on running shoes and pretends that Hampstead Heath is on the slopes of Table Mountain - and then immediately ruins the good work by indulging her obsession for chocolate.

With degrees in Theoretical Physics and Computer Science and an (embarrassingly) encyclopaedic knowledge of all things Tolkien and Joss Whedon, Imogen's the geekiest woman she knows and proud of it. And, while her playlists do include such upbeat artists as Pearl Jam, Leonard Cohen, Nirvana and Radiohead, she's still somehow annoyingly cheerful most of the time.

      Orla Codyre

      Orla Codyre

      QA Manager

Orla has joined us from Dublin to take up the role of QA Manager - and that means that everything has to go by her watchful eye before it is given the OK!

Before moving to London Orla was working as a QA Engineer for an Irish company after completing a BA in Computer Science.

Orla can be heard in the office confirming or disproving the "Irish things" that Ciaran has been telling the office for the last couple of years.

She is loving her new London life but has one issue with the fact that "R" is pronounced "arr" here and not "or", nearly a deal breaker but she's decided to tough it out!

      Ben Jackson

      Ben Jackson

      Web Developer

      @benjackson84

Ben, one of our awesome Web Developer contingent, studied Computer Science at the University of East Anglia, did 3 years of freelancing, and then moved to London because it’s closer to New York City than Norwich. Skimlinks appealed to Ben as the start-up lifestyle suits him since he’s able to show-off his converse and favorite t-shirts at work everyday.

Ben's job as a web developer is to look after most of the front-facing development, including our public website and publisher interface, but you’ll often find him happily delving into many other parts of our tech.

He spends his time in London watching films and trying to find famous cultural spots, such as where Bob Dylan filmed his video for 'Subterranean Homesick Blues'. Ben is a die-hard David Lynch fan (possibly to the point of cult-dom) and cites musical influences including Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground and David Bowie

      Tom Joy

      Tom Joy

      Web Developer

Tom’s work as a web developer means that his interest in new technologies and keeping ahead of the curve are of great value. This, and his previous work in small businesses, means that he is well suited to his role as web developer here at Skimlinks.

He spends his time learning new things and reading and writing blogs. He also keeps busy by contributing to open source code projects; he is a big WordPress fan and develops for the platform in his spare time.

However it can't all be work, work, work, and to show he is a rounded individual he has a large collection of colourful, but ultimately pointless soaps.

      Andras Serfozo

      Andras Serfozo

      Web Developer

      @subztep

Andras is Skimlinks' second Hungarian, and joins the team following his work on Hungary's largest social networking site, iwiw.

He loves coding chatbots and his dream is to do the Turing test. He also loves nature, but more often than not, you'll find him in front of his computer or checking in on FourSquare.

      Stuart Quin

      Stuart Quin

      Web Developer

The first Northern Irish member of the team, Stuart hails from Belfast with an MA in Computer Science from Queens University. Formerly working in online gambling, Stuart's newest adrenaline pumping thrill is working as one of Skimlinks' talented Web Developers. He works on our publisher interface, reports and website to ensure they are the best they can be. He's keen on PHP, properly written JS and all things web development-y, so he's found a welcoming home at Skimlinks.

When not going to Chelsea matches he can be found in the pub, at a club or gig. He's of the indie/electro persuasion so will be adding a different flavour to the already eclectic office playlist. Although commuting from West London, he's keen on being introduced to the bright lights and delights of East London.

      Neenu Ramakrishnan

      Neenu Ramakrishnan

      QA Engineer

Neenu joins us from Kerala, South India as a QA Engineer. She loves to find bugs and automate test scripts.

Before moving to London, she was working as test analyst in India after completing her Engineering in Electronics and Communication.

Recently Neenu has been developing a passion for Android development. In her spare time she loves to test out her cooking skills on her husband, watch Bollywood movies and surf IMDB.com.

      Catherine Siviter

      Catherine Siviter

      QA Engineer

Catherine is the newest addition to the QA team, having originally been a member of the Operations team. She enjoys getting to grips with all the new processes at Skimlinks and making them as perfect as possible. A mixologist at heart, Catherine seeks to combine the disparate chunks of tracking URLs during the day, while avoiding unrefined ingredients of a more liquid variety at night.

Hailing from London, Catherine is the only member of the cockney contingent at Skimlinks, although she usually manages to hide it well. She loves detective novels, classical literature, spaghetti westerns and theatre, amongst many other things.

      Chris McDevitt

      Chris McDevitt

      Senior Developer

Chris McDevitt joins us as a Senior Developer, working hard to increase our user base by scaling and writing our new APIs. Before he was making Skimlinks better for our publishers, he worked in web development and back end systems in areas like medical imaging and company research.

While Chris began his education at Bristol University in Electronic Engineering, his interest in the amazing speed with which you can create things led him to shift his focus to software. This interest carries on beyond the Skimlinks office, as Chris likes to learn programming in new languages (most recently- Clojure).

When he’s not coding away in Python he enjoys snowboarding and traveling outside the country when he can. Current obsessions include coffee brewing methods, growing chillies, photography and seeking out new music.

      Steph Gosling

      Steph Gosling

      Senior Systems Administrator

Steph is responsible for our operations and infrastructure and makes sure that everything runs smoothly. He's a keen practitioner of DevOps and is the resident go-to man for all things Cloudy.

Before joining Skimlinks, Steph ran large infrastructure operations in the US and UK for Moreover technologies, and prior to that administered servers in the UK and continental Europe supporting clients in television, telecommunications and new media.

When not on the servers he can be found tinkering with Linux on mobile devices & marshalling street skates in London's active rollerskating scene.

      Jurg Schwalb

      Jurg Schwalb

      Systems Administrator

Jurg is another member of the team from sunny Cape Town, South Africa, and studied Electrical Engineering at UNISA. As a Systems Administrator, he ensures the continuous uptime of the skimfrastucture, as well as keeping the underlying technologies fresh and up to date.

Before joining Skimlinks, Jurg worked at Stone Three Venture Technology as a Systems Administrator, gaining a love and respect for all things Linux.

In his spare time he likes to see new places, have fun with friends, and play around with technology in new ways. He is a huge foodie who enjoys cooking and eating foods from the world over, and is currently going through a Polish phase.

      Demeter Sztanko

      Demeter Sztanko

      Senior Developer

Demeter, or Dimi as he’s called around the Skim office, was born in the Soviet Union and now works out of our London HQ. His interest in tech started with his first “computer”, a TI-81 graphics calculator.

He started his career as a front end developer and gradually moved into data warehousing. Dimi has worked at a number of successful companies including Specificmedia, Siemens, and Last.fm, where he first worked with hadoop.

His likes include maps, bicycles, giraffes, and good ale, while the only dislike he mentions is for writing bios.

      Finance

      Matthieu Pivard

      Matthieu Pivard

      Chief Operating Officer

Matthieu's role as COO means he is truly the backbone of the Skimlinks operation. From speccing new products, to managing the roadmap, keeping the payroll in order, to paying publisher commissions: he looks after it all.

Matthieu and Alicia met in Sydney, in a job interview. Alicia was going on a 6 week holiday and had a week to train someone to take over her job of running the entire ad management platform for Fairfax, one of Australia's largest online publishers. Matthieu stepped up to the plate, and not only learnt everything in a week, but by the time Alicia came back from holidays, found herself wonderfully redundant.

When Alicia heard that Matthieu was leaving Sydney to return to Europe, she snapped him up. He now runs Skimlinks, keeps everyone in line and religiously enjoys a Diet Fanta at 4pm every day. He's also teaches the rest of the team about the magic of pivot (Pivard) tables, and manages to juggle the start-up life along with being a new dad to little ‘SkimBaby’!

      Amy Robinson

      Amy Robinson

      Operations Analyst

      @geneticdrifter

At Skimlinks Amy's main concern is money. She watches over the commission imports and company credit cards whilst keeping an eye on all things SkimWords. She also organises things, mostly parties, and is the go-to girl for anything & everything Skimlinks social.

Inside and outside work Amy loves a good party (foursquare can attest to that!). She likes to keep on top of what's going on in the world of events, whether it be an interpretive dance fling or a techno fist pump - the grimier the venue the better. And if there's even a chance a Roland TB-303 will feature in the proceedings, she's there in a flash.

With a first degree in Photography, she is the Skimlinks photographer-in-residence. Jo grew up in Texas but is British-born and her distinctive take on the English language keeps everyone guessing exactly where she is from.

With a love of all things free in London (and a strange fascination with the color green), you will often find Jo browsing the books at the British Library and getting involved in late nights at the V&A and Science Museum.

After completing his BSc in Computing and Business Management at Kingston University, Manon went on to work for Digital Window where he quickly rose through the ranks, helping form their QA team. A stint with myThings also saw Manon involved in collaborations with Digital Window to build an award-winning retargeting tool before eventually joining Skimlinks!

An avid sports fan, Manon religiously follows his favourite football and basketball teams; Manchester United and the Chicago Bulls. When he's not sulking about his team getting defeated on the weekend, he pursues his passion for composing music and being creative in any way he can.

Aaron is based out of our San Francisco office, although he relishes the opportunity to dive into data and strategy discussions with the product team in London whenever he can. He is always down to talk philosophy, stemming back to his PPE major at UPenn.

Previously, Aaron spent time in both Sales and Product Marketing at Google, managing the Google homepage and Doodle program worldwide, and most recently branding and direct response efforts for Google Maps.

When not behind a computer, Aaron can either be found on the basketball court or at the espresso machine. He also pretends like he paints and plays the guitar on a regular basis, but we’ve yet to see him actually do it.

Having lived in London his entire life, Nayan enjoys travelling to explore new places (or just to escape the British weather) as well as music, films and keeping up with current affairs. He also has a gym membership and plans to one day make good use of it.
