Are you a publisher? Why you love us Our Clients Are you a merchant? FAQs

Publisher FAQs

How often do I get paid?
Skimlinks payments are made at the end of each month. We pay you the cleared account balance as long as it's over the minimum amount of $50.

Payments require up to 60 days to clear. This is because sales can be refunded or identified as fraud, and merchants have the right to cancel the commissions related to these transactions up to 60 days after the sale. Commissions are cleared after this period, and are eligible for payment to you.

How do I get paid?
It's free to sign up for Skimlinks, and once it is installed on your site, you can earn commission on every click-through to an affiliated merchant that leads to a sale. Because of our scale we can negotiate the very best commissions for our publishers, which means you can earn up to 110% of what you would have earned if you did it yourself. We only get paid when you make money and we operate on a revenue-share basis. Skimlinks retains 25% of the commission payment from the merchant, and the rest we pay to you monthly, via PayPal or bank transfer. More details are available in our Terms of Service, when you apply for Skimlinks.

Is there a minimum I need to earn in order to get paid?
Yes, you need to have earned at least $50 in commissions in order to be paid. If you don't reach that amount in a month, it will roll over to the next month.

Can I earn from referring other publishers to Skimlinks?
We will shortly be launching a Skimlinks referral program. If you are interested in signing up to this please click here to register your interest.

Is it difficult to install?
Not at all. It's as simple as adding Google Analytics to your site.

How do I know which merchants are in Skimlinks?
Once you are approved, you get access to your reporting and admin area. You can search and browse all merchants we have relationships with, to help with your editorial creation priorities.

Is there a long-term commitment?
No, there is no long-term commitment. If it works for your site and company, keep using it; if not, just remove the code.

Does your code affect my ads?
No it won't affect any ads or existing partnerships you may have.

Does it work with Google Adsense?
Yes, Skimlinks is not a contextual program and therefore can be run alongside Google Adsense.

Can Skimlinks be made to appear part of my site?
Yes, we offer a custom subdomain option that lets you configure Skimlinks to run off one of your subdomains, making it look more integrated into your site.
Why do traditional affiliate links offer a poor user experience?
Traditional affiliate links appear in the browser status bar when a user is about to click on them. They tend to look ugly and suspicious, and may make a user less likely to click on them.

What is the difference with Skimlinks?
Skimlinks lets the normal link appear, and adds the affiliate link only when the user clicks on the link. This makes users trust your site more, and increases the likelihood they will click on the affiliate link. Repeat users and more revenue - sounds good, right?

What happens if links change over time?
Our automated validation of affiliate links means the user will always get taken to the correct merchant page, even if the merchant changes programme or the links change syntax.
