Skimlinks Launches Tools to Help Publishers Affected by Google Affiliate Network Shutdown

Posted 1 year ago by Adam Westreich

SAN FRANCISCO, Apr. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ – Skimlinks, the leader in native monetization, today announced a complete toolset to help former Google Affiliate Network (GAN) publishers easily transition their GAN affiliated links to working affiliate links, to ensure revenue continuity and lessen the potential financial impact on publishers of their affiliate network shutting down.

To take the hassle out of monetization and ensure publishers maintain their revenues following Google’s announcement, Skimlinks is launching specific updates to existing technology to identify all the GAN links and automatically convert them into the appropriate affiliate links on new networks.

This update will not affect publishers’ existing links posted for other networks, but it will convert any un-affiliated links as well as old GAN links through the adding one simple line of code to publisher websites.

“Over the next few months, GAN advertisers will leave and join other affiliate networks, which means existing GAN links may be broken and unable to earn publishers the commissions they rely on,” said Mark MacDonald, Senior Director, Account Management. “Skimlinks has long been an advocate for publishers, and with the launch of this toolset, our aim is reduce the hassle of transitioning affiliate networks and help publishers focus on what they do best – create compelling content.”

Skimlinks is monitoring the changes taking place as advertisers transition their services, and will be ready to help publishers monetize their content. Skimlinks will update all publishers on our rollout timeline in the coming weeks.

To prevent the hassle of manually identifying broken links, and identifying new affiliate programs, new publishers can follow these simple steps:

1. Sign up to Skimlinks.

2. Once approved, copy and paste our JS snippet into your site.

3. Profit.
